Touring the Capital of the Confederacy

As capital of the Confederate States, Richmond became a military target of the Federal Army. It was the seat of Jefferson Davis's administration and also the site of Confederate hospitals, factories, and prisons.

Richmond is has a number of fascinating Civil War sites. If you get a chance to visit Richmond, don't miss Chimborazo Park, the Confederate White House, Tredegar Iron Works, Belle Isle, and Hollywood Cemetery.
