In the Footsteps of Sheridan in the Shenandoah

Battle of Cedar Creek, October 19, 1864

In the fall of 1864, Sheridan's victory at Cedar Creek assured the ruin of Early's reputation. It also helped President Lincoln get re-elected.

This is a beautiful area. Be sure to visit Belle Grove, which is not far from I-81 where it meets I-66 near Strasburg, Virginia. Union General Philp Sheridan used the house as his headquarters.
